Acclaimed photographer, Henry Leutwyler, earned his undergraduate degree in economics and, during his time in the Swiss Army, decided to pursue photography as his profession. With no formal training he opened a studio in Lausanne, Switzerland and taught himself over the next few years.
In 1995, Leutwyler brought his family to New York and began a new phase in his photographic career. He has had the opportunity to work with publications world-wide including: The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Fortune, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, The Face, Vibe and Le Monde2. Among his subjects are: 50 Cent, Elvis Costello, Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane, Beyonce, Mikhail Gorbachev, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Wolfe, and His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Leutwyler has received numerous awards from the Art Directors Club of New York, Society of Publication Designers, Graphis, Donside, How, PDN, James Beard, and was recently named one of the 10 most influential Swiss photographers by Annabelle Magazine.
Most recently, the ASME honored Leutwyler with the 2008 Cover of
the Year for his New York Magazine image of Eliot Spitzer.
